Network big wigs have wised up and found the hottest source of drama it can be reported today.

A Melbourne sharehouse is allowing Channel Seven cameras total access whilst they undergo the painful process of selecting a new housemate.

The Advocate spoke with one of the contestants who is looking to secure a spot in the sharehouse.

“I’m pretty nervous to be honest.”

“But I think I’ve got a pretty strong case.”

“I work in a coveted mental asylum that is now a cafe / band room," she said, “And my hobbies pretty much include doing the dishes and cleaning the bathroom."

In a double whammy cost of living and housing crisis, tenants have unknowingly assumed the role of real estate agents.

Even though real estate agents do as little work as humanly possible and also have an attitude about it, they now don’t even have to conduct house viewings.

That responsibility rests entirely with the tenants, who meticulously curate the optimal housemate through a stringent checklist advertised in Facebook group chats.

The Advocate also spoke with the unofficial head of the house Kristine Lankard.

Larkard has lived in the dilapidated mould ridden mansion for more than three years giving her executive powers in the selection process.

“We’ve interviewed mostly duds.”

“No couples, no pets, no normies.”

“It’s pretty intense with the cameras but it’s gonna make for some fantastic television.”

"Especially the behind the scenes actions where we discuss the vibe of the contestants before conducting a secret ballot,” she said.

With the rental vacancy rate in Melbourne sitting around the two percent mark there’s an endless stream of contestants looking to book a spot in a sub par six person bedroom sharehouse in Brunswick.

More to come.
