The nation's newest gay icon has had quite a nice win over the weekend.

Brokeback Barnaby - who has come along way from Broke Barnaby aka the guy who was slaughtering his own livestock a few years ago - has revealed he's nabbed an absolute bargain.

The spokesperson for Australia's 'gayest party' has confirmed to The Advocate that he is now the proud owner of a quaint little bolthole in the cosmopolitan Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst.

"Yep, cute little 2 bedroom place just down the road from a lovely wine bar," said Brokeback Barnaby this morning.

"And they have the CUTESTTTT little bakery and florist too darling."

When pressed on why exactly he was nabbing some real estate in Darlinghurst, a suburb famous for neighbouring on Oxford Street amongst other things.

"Oh it's just divine," said Barnaby, who is recovering from the devastating news that his boss Pauline Hanson won't be getting behind a Mardi Gras float.

"It certainly takes a little bit of the joy out of the purchase, but I guess it just means I can enjoy the parade without having to do any work."

"Or maybe," said Barnaby with the wheels ticking over.

"Just maybe I can try and pull it off?"

"It's not like Pauline's gonna turn up to a work thing anyway?"

"And it would just be so much fun don't you think. SO many things we can do with the colour orange if you ask me."
