The Premier of Queensland has today asked to speak to the manager at the NRL.

Annastacia Palaszczuk has formally asked Peter V’Landys for a refund on the 8 million dollars she spent bringing the State of Origin opener to Townsville.

Hailed by the entire state as money well spent until about 8:25 pm last night, the Queensland government paid a huge chunk of cash for the right to host two origins in Queensland.

However, with the horde of screaming Queenslanders failing to halt the blokes from down south celebrating a rare win, the Premier has now asked for her money back.

“8 million bucks for nothing,” said Palaszczuk this morning.

“Waste of money treating the people of the Deep North to a 44 point hiding.”

“I’ll tell you what, if things don’t go the way they should at Lang Park in a couple of weeks time, I’ll be slamming the border shut again.”

“But that won’t happen. So the Blues can enjoy their win, and we’ll see em in Brisbane.”

More to come.
