Australia restored order to the cricketing universe and whipped Bangladesh inside two days, leaving many fans who travelled up to Mackay with a few days up their sleeve.

Some have only gone for the weekend, others, like Doug Rutteger of Brisbane's southside, are going home on Tuesday morning.

Speaking to The Advocate outside the NightOwl on Gregory Street (where we both paid full price for our nicotine products if anyone asks), Doug remarked on his predicament.

"Supposed to be heading back on Tuesday mid-morning, moving the flights forward a day costs $800 and I'd be burning a night at the hotel, so I thought, fuck it, I'm already on leave, a few of the fellas and I are in the same boat so we're going to send it again tonight," he said, unwrapping some imported smokes.

"Where you reckon’s good around here for tea? We had Subway last night and it's blown my arse to bits. I reckon that lettuce or whatever they put on it, it's stripped the finish off the insides of my colon. Not going there again."

Our reporter, who'd enjoyed some good old-fashioned northern Hogspitality every night since arriving in Mackay on Thursday, could only sing the Hog's Breath Cafe's praises.

This masthead began detailing the delicious "Cone of Hog Tail Fries" entrée, the steak sandwich for lunch, burrito, the surf and turf, sirloin, Boss Hog ribs. Doug was seemingly sold on the spot.

"Wow, they even let you stay after your meal, kept feeding you beers and let you smoke in the loading zone out the back? Fuck me dead, you don't get that type of hospitality anywhere else. You cough in South Brisbane these days and they kick you out," Doug said.

"We're going there one-hunnid pa-cent. Which pub after?"

Our reporter said come find him at the Palace later on, where he will be on the dance floor, solo, repeatedly dropping his guts.

More to come.
