Bays West To Be Renamed "Dog Cum" After Minns Government Regrettably Opens Naming To Public Poll

A controversial new suburb planned for Sydney will have an equally controversial name after the results of an online poll.

After receiving very mild backlash against the previous name "Bays West", the NSW Government did what many had warned them against and opened the naming process to the people of New South Wales.

There was some trepidation within the government, as a similar naming process for a Sydney ferry had resulted in "Ferry McFerryface", as per the popular internet meme. However, in documents seen by The Advocate, the NSW Department of Transport pushed on with the public poll.

From 1 July this year, the area will officially be referred to as "Dog Cum". It is currently a place where cars are unloaded from carriers and taken to various dealerships. There's also some businesses and some ugly silos, which have heritage protections apparently.

The planned Sydney Metro West station underneath the new suburb has already been updated to reflect the suburb's new name. Confirm stations now include Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, Dog Cum, Pyrmont and Hunter Street in the Sydney CBD.

Sources within the Minns Government have told The Advocate under the condition of anonymity that they "regret" the decision to open the naming process to the public and that the government's trust in the people of NSW has been "severely eroded" and might not recover from this.

More to come.
