The man aspiring to return to his role as Deputy Minister has today made quite a splash.

Former Leader of the Nationals Barnaby Joyce has revealed this afternoon that he we will need to be making a rather substantial update to his parliamentary register of interests.

This comes after the One Nation representative withdrew just over $300,000 from his superannuation this week, and deposited into a newly made online sports betting account.

The cause for the rather significant deposit were the revelations coming out of the inquiry into sportsbetting currently taking place in Canberra.

"Geez, that Bateman fella was really turning it on wasn't he," laughed Barnaby.

"Imagine getting up there and having a sook about these people rolling out the red carpet for ya."

"Sign me bloody up! Who's gonna win these footy game on the weekend?"

Barnaby's comments follow another day of the sportsbetting inquiry taking place, with media organisations who benefit from the gambling ad revenue doing their best to give it as little coverage as possible.

The inquiry has this morning heard from representatives of the major bookmakers, who defended themselves against claims made by Luke Bateman yesterday - amongst other things.

Bateman, the former Canberra Raider and current Booktoker/author claimed yesterday during a stunning hearing that the gambling providers offered to source him drugs and sex workers whilst he was in the middle of a gambling addiction.

The gambling companies have today said there's no evidence that happened, and told anyone with evidence to come forward - which seems like a rather interesting shot to fire in a digital age.

The inquiry will continue before government inevitably tries to quietly bury the findings and hold tight on their watered down gambling reforms.
