Barnaby Joyce Comforts Malcolm Roberts As He Struggles To Accept They Are 'The Gayest Party In Australia'

The former deputy Prime Minister of Australia is today doing his best to smooth over the latest flare up in his new party.

Barnaby Joyce has this morning pulled controversial Queensland One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts in tight and assured him that it's all going to be okay.

 This comes after he fronted the cameras to defend the party from the comments of a former Western Australian legislative council candidate for One Nation, who said that  gay people have a mental illness and that marriage equality should not have been legalised.

His comments come a decade after Barnaby railed against the same sex marriage plebiscite, saying things like 'Asian countries would view the change as decadent.'

However, a week is a long time in politics, and a decade is an eternity, with Barnaby moving yesterday to distance himself from the comments of the Western Australian, saying that One Nation is “one of the gayest parties in Australia.”

He made the comment in a rather humorous interview with the ABC yesterday, where the sex of animals was also raised, in a reminder that despite anyone's opinon of Barnaby, he always shows up and fronts the cameras no matter the circumstances.

However, after freaking out his party and a lot of the 'family and traditional values' voter base they are aiming for, Barnaby has had to move fast.

Linking up to herd a few sheep in the Glasshouse Mountains out the back of the Sunny Coast, Barnaby has pushed Malcolm Roberts to accept his claims that they are the 'gayest party in Australia.'

"I wish I knew how to quit you Malcom," said Gay Barnaby this morning.

"But we need to find a way to make this work. Who cares what Pauline or Gina think."

Malcom is said to be mulling over the call to action from Gay Barnaby, but is keen to see some empirical evidence that he is in fact gay.
