Barnaby And Pauline Forced To Go Top-To-Tail In Gina’s Humble Little $20M Queenslander

Pauline Hanson and Barnaby Joyce are facing scrutiny once again after failing to disclose their stay at Gina Rinehart’s Brisbane mansion following a One Nation fundraising event.

Parliament typically requires politicians to disclose any gifts or hospitality valued at over $300 - particularly if it risks presenting a conflict of interest in regard to their public duties. 

Yet Pauline and Barnaby’s series of sleepovers at Australia’s richest woman’s place did not come into the public eye until an episode of The Guardian’s new populist podcast examined expenditure records. 

Barnaby, however, is defending their choice to omit this information, calling Gina a ‘long-term friend of decades’ rather than a ‘motel’.

“I’ve got loads of mates in Brissy that were willing to put me up for the night, we just went with Gina’s because she’s got a spa,” he said. 

“But you know, us Aussie battlers don’t need flashy hotels and that. We’re perfectly fine with a mate’s spare room, a nice wrap-around balcony and a carton or two, or actually I think the girls were drinking wine that night. Anyway.”

“Gina’s a good mate of ours, she set up the spare room for us, just the one bed so we had to go top to tail, but who are we to complain when we’re the guests. It was a bit squishy at first but after a few night caps we were snoring away, happy as pigs in shit.”

“It’s just typical that we can’t even crash at our mate’s humble little Queenslander without some sort of public meltdown.”

“Like $20 million even gets you that far in today’s bloody socialist housing market, anyway,” he muttered under his breath.
