A local shop owner in Betoota Plains has seemingly discovered the secret to a booming, sustained business.

Clint Warton (58) has been the proud owner of Betoota Plains Discounts Galore since 1992, having purchased it just ten years after he started there as a Christmas casual aged 14.

Since then, he’s managed to keep the business relatively afloat, but in recent years, he admits, inflation has been doing a number on him and his staff.

That was until the Sunday before last, when Clint took to the company’s Facebook page to announce Discounts Galore would soon be rebranded to ‘Clinically Insane Clints’.

On Saturday, new signs were put up, and the transformation was officially complete.

The following Sunday marked the biggest day of business the store has seen since 2003.

“I mean, I knew it was a step in the right direction. Like if Fat Mike’s is anything to go by, that place absolutely cleans up,” Clint said.

“But the response has been overwhelming, I mean, more than anything I could've expected.”

“Had to air out some dirty laundry to get here, you know, but ‘Unhinged Clints’ didn’t really roll off the tongue in the same way 'Clinically Insane Clints' does, you know? Or Discounts Galore for that matter.

“And 'Crazy Clints' is, of course, just a cop out.”

“But yeah, the town just really seems to love it so we couldn’t be happier.”

Clint advised The Advocate as a thank you to the community, all sales will be half price this Friday, November 6th.

More to come.
