A recent report has found that no, you are not just turning into a grumpy old codger, because the kids really are worse than they used to be.

A national survey conducted of more than 370 Australian teachers has found students are missing out on at least 1/3 of their school year because of classroom disruptions.

This comes half a decade after every single kid was forced to spend two years indoors with their economically distressed and panicking families because of an airborne virus that scared baby boomers.

Surprisingly, these major and unprecedented public health measures ended up causing repercussions that lasted years longer than the outbreak itself.

When you pair the troubled at-risk kids that got fucked up by their miserable homelives during Covid-19 with the middle class kids who’ve been raided by iPads while their parents scroll Instagram, what we have ended up with is a drastically increased workload for Aussie teachers.

The findings are consistent with a Federal Senate inquiry and matches international trends for similar western school systems abroad.

The biggest takeaway is that teachers aren’t just whingers - and they are right to have raised concerns about conduct in Australian classrooms.

However, deep down - every Australian knows what is wrong with the current system:

Australian schools are now contending with the dwindling numbers of returned servicemen who were conscripted and sent to fight in Vietnam against their own wishes but didn’t have any other life prospects or family connections so they had no other options and were subsequently deeply traumatised by the horrors of active duty and witnessing the deaths of their close mates right before their eyes, causing them to dedicate their lives to making sure no other young people ever fell between the cracks like they did, by becoming hard but fair high school educators with explosive tempers and a two-pack-a-day cigarette habit and the ability to put the fear of god into any half-wit student without even raising a finger and instead relied solely on their blood curdling death stares and earth shaking verbal sprays.
