As Winter Concludes, Car Boot Is Treated To Another Bin Bag Full Of Clothes That Will Never Be Donated

With the end of winter finally in sight, hundreds of women in and around Betoota have decided to clear out their wardrobe this weekend.

The seasonal de-clutter is the perfect excuse for a $400 splurge at the shopping centre as the warmer months roll in, and also affirms an inner sense of altruism that sometimes needs some extra validation.

That is, if the clothes ever make it to the donation bin.

Ellie Mason (25) says there’s currently about four bin bags rolling around in the boot of her car, with another soon to be added.

“I will get around to it eventually,” she said.

“It’s the thought that counts though right. Like I am going to donate them eventually. It just takes a bit of time.”

Of her collection, the first bag reportedly made its way in almost three years ago. She’s had six services in that time and has cleaned her car out double that amount. And yet, the clothes remain, like a piece of furniture.

“There’s actually a little clothes donation thing for lifeline at the woolies I go to every week. I park in front of it sometimes. But I literally cannot do it. It's like a mental block. They've become part of the car at this point.”

“Plus, I went to the cinemas a few weeks ago and actually ended up getting an old jacket out of one of the bags and wearing it.”

“Like I’m still going to donate it but it’s nice to have the space in my wardrobe and also still own the clothes you know?”

“But I will donate it, I swear.”

“Either that or I’ll list the stuff on depop. I just can’t be bothered to take the photos. But I’ll do something with them eventually.”

More to come.
