An extremely rare antique was the talk of Sotherby’s last week, as an early 2000s pink Supré bag sold for 65 thousand dollars.
The bag which had been brought in by 32 year old millennial, Sophie Jefferson, was a prize piece for the collector.
“It’s one of my more special pieces, it’s not just the physical look of the bag but the story it tells” Sophie explained to our reporter.
Sophie received the bag in 2012 at a Westfield while shopping at the women’s clothing store.
“I was buying a pair of galaxy leggings when they put the leggings in the bag and off I went.”
“I used the bag for almost everything, gym bag at school, lowkey bag for alcohol at parties, a simple outfit statement whilst sipping on a Boost juice, honestly it worked for any occasion.”
The iconic Supré bag existed in a time where you could have a bag to hold your shopping and it didn’t cost you a thing. No fee to give to a charity or anything, just a simple bag.
“What I liked most about the bag was that it was about the brand, similar to having a Chanel bag or a Gucci bag. Except this bag literally cost nothing.”
The lucky buyer, antique collector, Jill Anderson, was ecstatic when she saw the price piece at the auction.
“I’ve been looking for one of these for years now!” Jill excitedly told our reporter.
“It completes my Supré collection.”
“On my display the pink Supré bag will join the tiger face muscle tee, fluro peplum dresses and of course every print of the galaxy legging.”
