Some sleeveless football clubs are in the shit this week because they've got their lawyers out of the drawer and set them against the very people they're supposed to protect.
Most notibly, Geelong. Melbourne's anus.
Long story short, they had this young fella who was very fucking good at sleeveless footy but he kept on smashing his brain during games. He did it so much that his doctors pretty much told him to pack it in, time to go to uni or whatever. Get a trade, that sort of thing. But due to the number and intensity of these brain smashings, he hit up the club's insurer to get a payout. Because he'd given his body to the club, I think he even might've won a prem. I'm not checking but if you know, you know I'm either right or wrong.
Anyway, this insurance company had him tailed for two years. They saw him play golf, speak well at his wedding and do other normal things. So they denied his claim and then the fucking club made him a deal where he agreed to say all future brain problems he might have are not the fault of the club or the sport.
Which is a load of hot cock when you think about it. And it's good that it all came out and the media got to put the dog up Geelong and the insurance company for being utter [slur redacted by legal] when they didn't need to be. On top of this secret agreement, the AFL chose not to sanction Geelong in what it said was a "complex and unique case". Another load of hot cock!
But yeah that's about my understanding of it. Not that the other codes are much better but fuck me, you get these young fellas to give their mind, body and soul to footy and then they just get chucked in the human skip bin when they're broken down and fucked. Not good enough.
More to come.
