4Corners Reveals Democracy Now So Compromised That Lobbyists No Longer Need To Operate In The Shadows

A recent Four Corners investigation has revealed that we have finally reached the point where political lobbyists are completely comfortable than to go on national television and explain how they use money and influence to undermine our democracy.

"Yeah between the illegal wars, wealth hoarding, AI data centres and global warming, it honestly feels like we aren't even that much of a problem anymore haha" said Kieren Williams (39), a mining and gas lobbyist.

"There was definitely a time when you wanted to keep this sort of thing behind closed doors. You'd have secret dinner night with all the pollys, make a few calls, donate some money and ideally nobody would ever know your name."

“But these days? Fuck it. I'll tell Four Corners exactly what I do."

Kieren says the industry has undergone a significant cultural shift, with lobbyists increasingly realising that the Australian public already assumes powerful corporations have disproportionate access to politicians anyway.

"It's actually quite liberating" he said.

"I used to tell people at parties I worked in government relations because saying 'I help fossil fuel companies get what they want from elected officials' sounded a bit scat."

"I guess... we won?" he added.

Kieran says he even hopes increased public awareness could finally see lobbyists viewed as positive members of society.

"I just knew having zero shame would work eventually!"
