A southern European backpacker who made the right decision to fly directly to Cairns via Singapore has been led to believe that Australia might be one of the funnest places on earth.

Ahead of her open-ended working holiday in the Land Down Under, Allessia (20) decided she’d get stuck into it straight away.

Even though Australia is heading into winter, her youthful wanderlust was immediately scratched by the glorious warm weather that she was met with upon arriving in Far North Queensland yesterday morning.

After dumping her bags at a backpackers on the Esplanade, she quickly learnt that this town is full of people her age who are showing no signs of leaving any time soon.

Within half an hour she had an array of job offers at her disposal, from aged care work to fruit picking, the lowly per hours wages don’t really bother her because she doesn’t really plan on staying in a hotel anytime soon.

But aside from the sunny climate and immediate employment, it was Allessia’s first night out on the tiles that confirmed her initial belief that Far North Queensland is the promised land.

A random mid-week evening at the iconic hotel/nightclub ‘GILLIGANS’ has led the newly arrived bachelorette to believe that Australia might just be the wildest country she’s ever visited.

With 1990s prices on drink specials and a over 1000 other young people from every corner of the planet dancing for 8 hours, Allessia’s can only assume every pub in Australia is this fun.

“I cannot believe this”

“They say this place open every night of the week. Australia is crazy”

While Allessia doesn’t consider herself a seasoned partier, she does believe there is some merit in having a DJ play nothing but the hits all night long.

“This not like Ibiza” she says.

“They don’t play Spice Girls in Ibiza”

And with a travel itinerary that will take her to the massive Australian cities down south, Allessia can’t wait to see what kind of parties they throw in a proper nightlife precinct.

“Australia is so relaxed. They really know how to have a good time”

“I mean if this what they do in a small fishing town like Cairns. Imagine what they do in Sydney or Brisbane”
