Toxic Couple Stay Together For The Kids

The Liberals and Nationals are back on this morning, just in time for the SuperBowl, after completing a trial separation that ultimately failed to serve them better.

Leaders Sussan Ley and David Littlerpoud, of the Liberal and Nationals respectively, have decided to put their differences to the side and focus on doing what's best for their kids. Their kids being everyone from small business to multinational mining companies that harvest our natural resources and pay us nothing.

In a short statement this morning, Littleproud explained it was a tough decision but ultimately the best for the party's rapidly diminishing voter base.

"There's no path to government for the Nationals or the Liberals without each other," he said.

"And going through with the divorce, only would've made our worst nightmare come true, which is an intergenerational Labor Government with no meaningful Opposition in the House and a freakshow of a Senate,"

"So Sussan and I have worked out a deal that means we both get to save face and get what we want. It shows that neither of us backed out and our internal detractors, our own Richard Marles' if you will, can go and eat humble pie. Actually, while I've got you. The last time I sat in Albo's office a couple years and had a chat, we both heard an earsplitting scream, I'm talking 110dB and I thought it was a woman,"

"I go to get up and Albo just sighs and says sit down, it's only Richard Marles getting excited that he won the Meredith Festival ballot because he really wanted to see Leo Sayer. Whatever that means. Anyway, that's what were up against here."

The Advocate reached out to Sussan Ley's office for comment but have yet to receive a reply.
