Prominent Toowoomba-based solar sales rep, Sheehan Gostwyck (31) has never been to continental Europe before.
And so far, he likes what he sees.
"These Italians mate. They really take their Italian food very seriously. It's basically all you can get here"
Sheehan says he's been to Thailand once for a honeymoon, and visited the UK in 2015 for the Rugby World Cup.
Other than that, he usually holidays down on the Tweed, or further north in the fishing hot spots near Bundy and Yepoon.
However, with plans to have a kid in the next couple years, the missus has twisted his arm and convinced him to go on a big long Meditteranean holiday.
"We had a bit saved, and thought, why not?" he says.
"Only get to do this once"
However, as Sheehan has learnt so far - as he and the wife make their way down the Italian peninsula after landing in Rome - the food and the grog seems to change every twenty kilometres or so.
"Very inconsistent, I've found"
"It's all good and whatever. But I haven't really come across any real Italian food until we got to Naples"
It was at dinner last night, at a family-run 'ristorante' overlooking the sea at Via Toledo, that Sheehan got a taste of the real thing.
"Finally. A pizza" he laughs.
"Took us long enough. But it was worth the wait"
Sheehan says the 'Prosciutto Cotto Pizza' he ordered last night was possibly the greatest Italian food he's ever had.
"It's not really ham, I spose. They call it Proshutto. Same thing really but they do it in my strips"
"Also there's no slices of onions or whatever. Didn't need it really. It give it a 9/10"
"The only thing I would add is obviously pineapple but when in Naples I guess"
With another week of dining and drinking ahead of him before they get to Sicily, Sheehan has high hopes of stumbling across the 10/10.
"Tell you what, you could make a shitload of money doing proper pizzas here. With their style of cooking and a few more ingredients - you'd shit it in"
"Bit of barbecue sauce wouldn't hurt either"
