After 9 years of wonderful memories and committed service, local Betoota woman, Grace Armitage’s black strappy heels have finally been chucked out.
The 3 inch heels which were purchased for Grace’s extensive 21st season, ended up becoming the perfect heel for any occasion.
“I wore them to every 21st, then to graduation, then to the odd funeral then eventually wedding season,” Grace told our reporter.
9 years after purchasing the heels, mid wedding season was when the heels began to properly fall apart.
“I knew they weren’t in great shape. Some of the black leather was coming off the sides, the straps were stretched, there was practically no sole left in the shoe,” Grace explained to the Advocate.
“I just didn’t want to believe it was over, I didn’t want to move on. I loved the shoes and I knew deep down those shoes loved me too.”
It was during a rainy wedding in mid May when the heels finally gave way.
“I think it was the combination of the wet weather and the old age that finally did it. The strap broke clean off.”
“It was on the dance floor, the DJ was playing Ariana Grande’s Break Free when it happened. It was symbolic and I guess, iconic?”
Grace would like to remember the heels for the great memories, the long walks home from the club, the messy hook ups and the dancing, may she never forget the dancing.
“I guess I would tell everyone out there that has an old pair of disgusting heels, to hold on to them tight, you never know when they’re gonna be your last dance.”
