Pub Chef Hoses Teriyaki Glaze Off Woolies Wings And Knocks Up A $35 Super Bowl Special

In exciting news for Betoota foodies, a bunch of local watering holes have launched a new pub menu this week to celebrate the Super Bowl.

Whilst most people will be treating today as just another Monday, it’s expected a handful of portly American sports enthusiasts, plus all the American expats who live in Betoota, will be heading out for a day of binge drinking and American cuisine at some of the Irish sports bars in town.

And with this, comes the chance for pubs to knock up a “Superbowl Specials” board, which are usually just the normal menu items, but coated in smokey BBQ sauce.

Speaking to one chef, Greg McHindley from PJ Gilroy's Irish Pub, today the team will be flogging $35 bowls of semi-defrosted chicken wings.

“There’s no secret to my recipe, I just take the bags of teriyaki ones I buy from the Woolies deli, I hose all the sauce off them and put them through the deep fryer, twice.”

“Serve them with a few badly cut up celery sticks and a pot of ranch dressing straight from the Paul Newman bottle, it’s the easiest $35 I can make!”

Speaking to the bar manager of PJ’s, Sean Hasselback, it hasn’t been hard to get the word out there that his venue will be the best venue in town to watch “the big game”.

“It’s a pretty easy day to market, there are heaps of blokes who will take a day off to gamble and pretend they know how NFL works.”

“I just asked ChatGPT to create me a picture of chicken wings, surrounded by the stars and stripes and some bald eagles and the poster for my special menu was done.”

“You think the wings are good, wait til you try our take on nachos! It’s the same pet mince we used on the Doggy Bites menu, with some El Paso taco mix.”
