A grandmother in Betoota Heights has spent a couple hours in the salon chair this morning to end up looking exactly as she did upon entering.

Marjorie Higgliepigg (82) says she visits her hairdresser fortnightly for a trim, wash and style.

“I just love Karen, my stylist, she’s been down there for forty years. So when I go in it’s really just a catch up for us old girls, and she cuts me a deal, $60 for the whole shabam. You wouldn’t get that anywhere else in Betoota these days.”

“And I do my fortnightly shop at the same time, pop by Jerry at the butchers, he’s been there years too.”

“This is usually when I'll buy my longlife milk even though I’ve already got enough in the pantry to last through the apocalypse.”

“Sorry love what were we saying? Oh yes it’s a real treat for me.”

“I really love what Karen’s done with it this time, see what she’s done at the sides here,” Marjorie said, gesturing to her fresh trim.

Though our reporter was unable to note any difference in the hair's length, texture, or colour, she nodded along politely.

“I was thinking of a perm next time, but ohhh I don’t know. I’m getting a bit old to try new funny things like that!”

“No no, I think it’s probably best I just trust Karen to work her magic as she does.”

“Anyway if you’ll excuse me the RSL courtesy bus is a few minutes away and I haven’t picked which capris I’ll be wearing!”
