A Sunshine Coast woman has taken a moment to think back to the days before everyone became woke and boring and you could still ride imported mammals at the local market for a small fee.
Tara O’Loughlin (25) says it was a simpler time.
“I used to love going to the Eumundi markets and having a ride on the camel in the tiny 2x2m square of grass designated for him,” she said.
“Nowadays it would be shut down by PETA or RSPCA in no time.”
“I’m all for protecting the animals, like trust me I’m a vegetarian.”
“But genuinely the camel enjoyed it, I know he did. For one he had a lovely little smile the whole time, which you can actually see here in the photo. And two, look at all this cute stuff he is wearing.”
“You can't tell me he doesn’t love that little necklace he’s wearing, like look at his little face, awww.”
“Oh and also he straight up kneeled so I could get on him. Why would he kneel if he didn’t want me to get on.”
“I’ll probably get cancelled for saying all this but it was honestly a symbiotic relationship between rider and camel.”
“Now I just go to the markets for a Gozleme and leave immediately.”
“But I’d do anything to go back to the days when it was a whole day activity that was actually worth it.”
