Local Woman Disappointed To See Only Text Is From Dominos After Having A No Phone Day

A local Betoota woman was left questioning her friendships after only receiving a notification from Dominos after a full day of not going on her phone.

Fiona Pritchard decided to have a “me day” last Saturday and not go on her phone from 9am until 5pm.

“I wanted to kinda like rawdog life, you know? No listening to music, no scrolling Instagram, no swiping Hinge. Just me and my thoughts” Fiona told our reporter.

While Fiona spent most of the day binging Taskmaster, the no phone day was quite the success.

“I was actually watching the TV, like I laughed out loud, it was incredible!”

When 5pm hit and Fiona allowed herself to grab her phone which was hidden away in the back of a bathroom cabinet, she was shocked to see what had been waiting for her.

“I couldn’t fucking believe it. My only notification was a text from Domino’s telling me I could get 3 large value pizza’s, a garlic bread and a 1 L bottle of soft drink for $35.99!”

“Did no one have ANYTHING to tell me, no plans for the night, no goss, no like checking in with how I am. It’s like waking up on Christmas morning and there’s no presents in your stocking” Fiona cried.

The promotional text which started with “It’s SaturYAY” was sent to the popular pizza chain’s customers all around Australia. Other customers were fooled by the play on the words.

“I know it’s stupid but I thought someone texted me genuinely feeling the yay for Saturday. There’s nothing yay about me by myself with 3 BBQ Sausage and Onion pizzas” local Betoota loner, Adam explained.

Domino’s representative, Margaret Arita believes Domino’s have a real opportunity to lean into the mental health space.

“To some people we’re the only texts they ever get, we’ve started brainstorming adding questions like, how are you doing? Or, have you showered today?” Margaret told the Advocate.

More to come.
