Local Man Pauses Mid-Shave To Reflect On 2013/14 Mitch Johnson Performance

A local man has taken a moment during his morning shave to reflect on one of the nation’s proudest sporting memories.

The performance in question was none other than Mitchell Johnson’s legendary 2013/14 Ashes series, taking 37 wickets and earning the Player of the Series title in a fiery exhibition of world-class fast bowling.

The brief pause occurred just after local Michael McGavin finished shaving both cheeks and started on his chin, leaving an outline similar to that of Johnson’s signature handlebars moustache.

The 33-year-old still looks back fondly on that summer, a time before “shit got too serious," and claims he remembers it as the masterclass which made him fall in love with the beautiful game of test cricket.

“I still recall the fear in Jimmy Anderson’s eyes before Midge knocked out his middle peg in Adelaide," McGavin reminisced.

“Mate I’d be shitting bricks too if the fastest bowler in the world was sending down 150 click thunderbolts at me.”

“That staredown to Broady too. Peak cinema that was.”

Following countless more minutes of “and remember when…”, McGavin became visibly emotional when The Advocate asked him to recall the rest of that Ashes side, citing the great names of Shane Watson, Chris Rogers and Brad Haddin.

“Don’t even get me started on Ryan Harris’ first ball peach at the WACA!” he added.
