A local couple are rejoicing this week after figuring out a handy way to shave $4000 off their wedding bill.
Seated on the couch scrolling through a joint spreadsheet this evening, Will Chang and Fiona Nabler have been sweating on the numbers, as they realise their special day is about to top $80k.
Having forked out $30,000 to hire the musky cellar at Shrieking Pig Winery out in the Betoota Vineyards, and another $20k to feed their guests with a two-course meal that’s likely to leave everyone hungry, Will and Fiona have been getting pretty nervous about a potential cost blowout.
“Jeez it’s adding up, I don’t think we’re going to make half of this back in wedding gifts,” lamented Will.
“Yeah, and your relatives aren’t ethnic, so they’ll be tight asses with the wishing well,” added Fiona.
Running their eyes up and down the spreadsheet that’s quickly building up with costs for flowers, make up and bridal party accommodation, the pair decided it was time to make a tough call and boot some deadweight.
“Do we really need the celebrant? That guy we met for coffee didn’t even remember our names?” suggested Will.
“Yeah, why don’t we just get Sam to do it, he’d be great!” added Fiona.
Speaking of their mutual mate who was the lead in all their school musicals back in the day, the pair decided it was worth subbing in their one friend who went to Betoota Arts College for two years to study acting.”
“Yeah he’s funny, dresses well, I think he’s even been doing some stand up lately,” said Fiona.
“And we were gonna invite him anyway,” added Will.
“Let’s shout him drinks at trivia next Tuesday, get him plastered and agreeing to do it. If we promise him some Hamilton tickets, we might be able to lock him in for the MC duties too.”
More to come.
