The streets of Betoota are about to become a whole lot more colourful in the coming months as our regional metropolis braces for the arrival of election material.

However, it’s not just thousands of sheets of corflute that will be decorating our city, but also the arrival of a fluorescent lime green Lambo.

With the federal election about to get underway, it’s understood the owner of all four PrintWorks stores in Betoota, Howard Typemore, has just preordered a Lamborghini, given he’s about to enjoy a very plump injection into his business.

Speaking to Howard from the massage table of Siam Serenity Day Spa, the fourth-generation printer says it’s a good time to be the only bloke in town with the machinery capable of printing metre-tall posters of people’s faces.

“They only come around once every four years, but God, it’s a good time to be in the ink cartridge business!”

“Whether it’s elections or referendums, I might be the only person in town who actually welcomes the news that the poll booths are opening up again.”

With at least three local real estate agents attempting to pivot into politics, Howard says double-dipping on profits this year is easier than ever.

“Most of them pay me an artwork fee just to swap a First National logo out for a Liberal Party one. Plus, every two weeks some youths usually take a permanent marker to the signs, so election candidate hopefuls are due for a reprint and another invoice.”

“You could say I’ve got a licence to print money!”
