A Friday night girls night in Betoota’s French Quarter reached the absolute peak when a crossover with a random boy group led to the girls lying about what jobs they had.
After a boozy birthday dinner for 26 year old, Lily Fernsby, herself and three of her closest girlfriends kicked on to a local bar to keep the good times going.
The girls celebrated with Aperols, begged the DJ to play Olivia Rodrigo’s “Expectations” and complimented the hell out of every woman that walked into the female bathrooms.
But just as the night seemed like it couldn’t get any better, a group of 5 gentlemen sat directly next to Lily and her friends.
“We weren’t excited because we saw them as potential suitors, no fucking way, we saw them as an opportunity to have a bit of fun,” Lily explained to the Advocate.
After introducing themselves and making fun of one of the boys shirts which he unbuttoned a button too much, one of the boys asked Lily what she did for work.
“I told him I worked with Robert Irwin at Australia Zoo but drove up to Betoota to see my family for my birthday,” Lily laughed.
“They didn’t believe me at first but then I told them I gave Rob a hickey behind the Sumatran Tiger enclosure and that was like too specific of an animal for them to question you know?”
Lily’s friend, Cara just straight up told one of the boys she played for the Broncos.
“Yeah she somehow managed to convince them she was Tamika Upton.”
“They don’t really look alike but those boys must have been really drunk, it was classic.”
As much fun as the lies were to the girls, the lies ended up becoming some sort of improvisation game and soon the boys were slowly edged out of the conversation and ended with just the four women yapping on top of each other.
“Lying by yourself is fun but doing it in a group of girls on a Friday night might possibly be some of the best times you’ll ever have.”
