Cape Town residents are silently hopeful that the escalating instability in the Red Sea and a Houthi led blockade of shipping could bring a return to the glory days of their dear city.

"No, it's terrible what's going on in the Middle East but this place could be looking like Singapore if this thing turns into a forever war" explained Pieter van der Merwe (40).
