PLEASE BY ALL MEANS: A local woman has left her neighbourhood Dan Murphy’s in unusually high spirits this week, after being asked to show ID during a routine Friday afternoon stock-up.

35-year-old Claudia Bardwell had been expecting nothing more than her usual in-and-out mission for a bottle of pinot when the incident occurred.

Instead, Claudia received something far more powerful: unsolicited validation.

“It was amazing,” she told The Betoota Advocate. “The fact that he had to check my age… I mean, wow.”

According to witnesses, the moment occurred as she entered the store, when a staff member briefly paused Claudia to request proof of age before waving her through.

“It was very professional. Very casual,” Claudia said. “But also…quite meaningful.”

Still riding the high, Claudia reportedly rebooked her next Botox appointment within the hour, convinced her current regimen must be delivering tangible results.

“I knew Nurse Toby was doing something right,” she said.

A press release from Dan Murphy’s later clarified that the interaction may not have been quite as personal as Claudia had hoped.

“He was simply doing his job. All our staff are trained to check ID for anyone who looks under the age of 25,” a spokesperson confirmed.

Claudia, however, is choosing to interpret the policy in the most flattering way possible.

“I’ll take it,” she responded.

Friends say Claudia is far from alone, with many locals now quietly factoring a “quick Dan’s run” into their weekly routines.

“Now, whenever I’m having one of those days or just need a bit of a pick me up, I just pop down to Dan Murphy’s,” one friend revealed. “I know there’s a pretty good chance someone will ask to see my ID.”

More to come. #ad
