The White House has today offered some clarity on how it feels about journalists from our great southern land.
Fresh off the back of a rather heated interaction with the ABC’s America’s Editor John Lyons, President Donald Trump has confirmed that he isn’t particular fond of meddlesome journalists.
“I think you Australians would do well to remember what we do to journos who are a pain in the US authorities’ ass,” said Trump in an exclusive minute long interview with The Advocate.
“You remember what happened to that lady in LA?”
“Yeah, well mr cue ball should watch that footage again before he thinks about asking me any more questions.”
Trump’s comments follow the exchange between John Lyons and the President of the United States, where the ABC was pressing him on his personal wealth.
Lyons, as part of a Four Corners documentary, was keen to examine the fact that the President’s wealth has nearly double since being in power – something which understandably Mr Trump wasn’t too keen to discuss.
That led to the Mr Lyons being chastised by Trump who said he would bring him up when he meets with Prime Minister Albanese before telling him ‘quiet’ to end the conversation.
The exchange of course has been used as an example of Trump shutting down the ‘Fake News Media’ and led to the stern warning to any other Aussie journos thinking of piping up.
“Rubber bullets baby,” said Trump.
“They hurt.”
“Even more than a shut down from me.”
More to come.
