The fear of getting cancelled is an invisible guillotine that hangs over the heads of many a public facing figure, especially ones who were on Facebook in its heyday. Before it was overrun by conspiracy theorists and weird people you went to primary school with who are now flogging online PT courses.

One local woman who hasn’t made it big but still lives with this fear, is primary school teacher Jade Allen.

While Allen may look like a sweet, all rainbows and butterflies year one teacher, her Facebook status and wall post history paints an entirely different – and more disturbed – picture.

From 2006 - 2009 Allen shared over 600 status updates, ranging from simple song lyrics directed at her crushes, to more questionable themes that would definitely be considered racist.

In addition to that, Allen also posted 156 play-by-plays of her friends’ park drinking sessions, leaving in omissible facts like how often she blacked out, or spewed because she drank too many guava Cruisers.

Speaking with The Advocate, Allen explained how she regrets everything she’s ever publicly posted on Facebook and she’d take it all back if she could.

“I’m truly mortified of the person I was on Facebook back then…”

“I guess my one saving grace is that I am just a small town girl, born and raised in South Betoota, and in no way will I ever draw enough attention to myself to warrant any of those internet sleuths to go digging into my past.”

More to come.
