A local grandma of 9 has today politely 'mmmhmmmed' her way through a conversation with her middle child.

Beverly Hilston (67) from our towns Betoota Heights' district did so earlier today, while being provided a 15 minute guide on how to look after a couple of young kids.

The frequent and regular minder of all of her grandchildren, Beverly said over time you learn to just nod along.

"Oh I just agree and let them go," laughed Bev, a short time ago.

"And then go ahead and do whatever I was going to do anyway."

"I mean, sometimes I really do wonder."

"How do they think they all survived?" continued Bev who finds herself frequently shaking her head at her kids.

"Let me tell you, they certainly didn't have their days planned out to the minute, with every single meal and nap accounted for."

Bev says that while she respects her kids requests, she does take a fair bit of what they say with a grain of salt.

"Goodness me..."

"Some of it is just ridiculous, 'make sure if he goes on the iPad it's only for 30 minutes and it's only education games'?"

"How about we go and have fun in the yard with grandma or do some craft at the dinner table."

"None of this iPad business."

"Genuinely, they speak to me like I didn't raise the 4 of them while holding down shift work at the hospital," laughed the retired nurse.

"What can you do."
