On Saturday morning, local Betoota woman, Amy Tellman remembered she had free will and decided to go for a run.

“Sometimes I forget that I’m young and free but then I remember and I’m like I need to freaking run around or something.” sighed Tellman.

“It was from a Tik Tok yeah… it was this old woman talking about what she wished she did more in her 20s, it was inspirational okay.”

In the first 100 meters of Amy’s run she was slowed down by an unexpected pain in her left abdomen.

“I stopped suddenly and grabbed my stomach that was throbbing in pain, it took me right back, like a nam’ veteran remembering the war” Amy told our reporter.

“Year 3 cross country, 2nd kilometer, the uphill part that went outside the school, that’s when the stitch hit.”

A stitch is the common phrase for a sharp, stabbing pain felt below the rib cage usually off to one side that one may experience during high intensity exercise.

“The other kids running in front of me, quickly I was becoming the last one in the race. My parents watching from the school oval, disappointed in me.”

Before Amy could break down over her upsetting athletic ability she remembered one important piece of advice.

“I touched my toes, well at least tried to, that always fixes a stitch right up.”

Despite Amy’s quick recovery, she decided to not risk another injury and safely walked to her closest coffee shop for an iced latte and a ham and cheese croissant.

“The stitch may have ruined my run but I left the house and that was enough for me.”
