Woman Showing Boyfriend Beloved Childhood Movie Realises Ten Minutes In That It’s Actually Shit

could watching terrible movie

A woman who convinced her boyfriend to watch a beloved childhood movie has realised, just ten minutes in, that it might actually be one of the shittest films she’s ever seen in her 32 years on Earth.

After spending a solid fifteen minutes pestering her (very reasonably sceptical) partner, Sophie Halliday quickly discovered why it’s never wise to recommend a movie you haven’t rewatched since primary school - unless, of course, that movie happens to sit firmly on the god-tier list of timelessness, like the 1999 blockbuster The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.

“You have to watch this, Liam, it’s honestly one of my favourite movies ever,” Sophie had insisted, somehow forgetting that the last time she’d seen it was back when ‘Charlie the Unicorn’ was peak YouTube comedy, "just trust me, you’ll love it.”

“I don’t know if I’d be into it,” Liam had replied, after reading the premise ( a cowboy–alien body-swap movie made in the 2000s but set in the 1960s) and immediately deciding it wasn’t his thing.

“Plus it’s rated, like, 19% on Rotten Tomatoes.”

Despite his very reasonable concerns, Sophie maintained the movie was a hidden gem, and that Rotten Tomatoes always gives comedies shit ratings anyway.

It can now be confirmed that the film was, in fact, so profoundly abysmal that Sophie spent the first ten minutes frantically distancing herself from it, assuring Liam that she actually hadn’t seen it in years and truly had no idea it was this bad.

More to come.
