Local public transport commuters have another reason to jump for joy as train station escalators provide that extra strong breeze that money just cannot buy.
The strong wind-like effect is caused by huge volumes of air getting pushed up the escalator tunnels by trains leaving and arriving from the station. This cold cold breeze leaves commuters that one little bit happier on their way to work in the morning.
“It’s one of life’s simplest pleasures. You know how you get the sea breeze in the early arvo, it’s kinda like that but at 8:20am at Betoota station” local train user Justin Roffman told the Advocate.
While the journey to the train station can sometimes be uncomfortable, with carriages overheating with sweaty crowding, the escalators allow citizens to unwind.
Local office worker, Josie Jones has never been one to walk up the escalator, allowing the 20 second ride as a moment for mindfulness.
“Once I step on it, I'm locked in. Cool wind on my face, I close my eyes and I feel a stillness come over me, it’s beautiful.”
Some commuters simply use the station breeze for aesthetic purposes.
“I don’t bother blow drying my hair, I just wait for the escalator and bobs your uncle” Felicity Xu shared with our reporter.
“I get so sweaty on the train, even in the morning I’ve already got the sweat patches going, thankfully I can stand on the escalator and they just disappear” sweaty commuter, Rodney Willman shared.
