A lifelong Wests Tigers fan is absolutely buzzing after realising that Tigers will be ending the regular NRL season in a “well mathematically, we could..” position on the ladder.
Scott Farley (28), who was 8 years old the last time the Tigers won anything, is now starting to get a sense of what glory feels like as they sit at a euphoric 11th position with two rounds to go.
“It’s been a stellar year for us, absolutely chuffed” Scott said, with the calculator app still up on his phone doing the maths.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but technically finals footy is still a possibility for us if everything goes our way” he explained moments before gazing at his Benji Marshall flick-pass Iphone wallpaper.
For many long suffering Tigers fans, being this engaged in the competition in mid August feels a little unnatural.
“Havn’t felt like this since before Covid” said Scott.
After copping the wooden spoon three seasons in a row, supporters have described 11th spot as a great finish.
Many Tigers fans are shocked to be checking the ladder after round 14.
But one Balmain original says this is exactly what it looks like when the club is coming out of a slump.
“This feels a lot like the early 2000s” says Elias Hardwick (58).
“Which, as I said at the time, also felt a lot like the late eighties”
“The fact that we are talking about the butterfly effect-like mathematical miracle that needs to occur for us to make finals… and not who our next coach should be – is honestly so refreshing”
Some have even gone as far as buying semi-finals tickets “just in case”.
Club insiders have admitted they’re scrambling to update their social media feeds from the usual nostalgic throwback posts of when they were competitive, to actually optimistic posts about the future..
“As far as we’re concerned, this team is a dynasty” Elias said.
“Richo has silenced the critics. So has Benji. So has Romey”
“Let’s go Tigs”
