"Well Someone's Gotta Pay Some Tax" Says Local Man Picking Up The Tab For These Multinational Gas Companies

An altruistic local man has decided to pull his finger out for the nation this week.

Andy Dalton (41) decided to do so last night, in the form an impromptu little blow out with some mates on a school night.

The cause for the hedonistic consumption of a few schooners and a couple of pints follows the recent highlighting of the fact that Australia raises more tax from glass sandwiches that from major gas exporters.

Hitting the news cycle courtesy of David Pocock, the nation has since raised eyebrows after being directed to that fact that we get more tax revenue from beer excise than from the Petroleum Resource Rent Tax (PRRT) on major gas exporters.

Projections for 2025-26 indicate beer excise will generate approximately $2.7 billion, while the PRRT on offshore gas projects is expected to bring in $1.5 billion.

This, coupled with the fact large companies like Santos haven't paid a cent of company tax for a decade - despite plastering themselves all over our sporting landscape and generating healthy revenue for their board and their employees - means local blokes like Andy have decided to try and go the big lift for the nation.

"Mate, someone's gotta pay some fucking tax around here," said Andy, after his second schooner last night.

"And don't give me the bullshit about their pay role tax and providing employment."

"So does every company."

"They get our resources for fuck all, get to pillage them, and send them overseas for maximum profit leaving the nation high and dry with energy bills that go up every single quarter."

"So as far as I'm concerned, they can ligma."

"And then pay some tax."

More to come.
