Local man Craig Jericho has been overcome with waves of nostalgia today as he dug up his back cord earphones.
As he began the long forgotten chore of untangling the corded bastard's memories from 2015 came flooding back.
He remembered a time where the purchase of an iphone guaranteed you a new pair of earphones and a charger. A time before covid, before Trump, a simpler time. An era where things were still fucked but we hadn’t exactly realised it just yet.
But more importantly, a time before airpods.
Upon their release the public were disgusted by airpods but it wouldn’t be long before routinely charging your ear devices would be the norm.
Mr Jericho felt liberated after ditching the pods returning to the cord. Slowly, the constant feeling that his earphones would die subsided.
“I should have put the pods down years ago, after taking some time away from them I can see that they look just as stupid on people as they did in 2015.
A few of my mates have called me performative but I wouldn’t go that far, it’s not like I’m reading a book,” he said.
As we approach a decade since the release of airpods it appears that people are rejecting the planned obsolescence pods, reaching into their bed side table and embracing the wired connection.
“They’re also $30 not $300.”
More to come.
