A former rising star of the AFL has today met a fate written in the stars for some years now.

Daniel Gorringe has sensationally confirmed that he’ll be coming out of retirement to sign a 2 year contract with the Gold Coast Suns.

For those who aren’t aware, the Gold Coast is the final resting place for sporting careers in our Great Southern Land – with many journeymen given one last big contract to see them into retirement or the VFL/Super League.

The 31-year-old who went Number 10 all the way back in 2010, has revealed that he’s coming off the back fence to jag one last pay day.

“I’m bringing a flag to the Gold Coast,” said the noted funny man on his new podcast, Dan Does Footy.

“And cashing in a few cheques on the Glitter Strip.”

The Big Brother star had teased fans over the last couple of days with cryptic posts about dusting off the old size 17 Addidas Predators.

That ‘big things coming’ style content has understandably sent the Reddit AFL forums into a tizz, with more comments generated than a post about a Collingwood player being the centre of a new scandal.

Now, it’s been confirmed that the 26 game and 11 goal journeyman will be heading back to Carrara to where it all began.

“Obviously I was hoping for some paperwork from the Blues,” said the lifelong Carlton fan.

“But they apparently reckon they can win a flag without me.”

“So fuck em.”

“I’m gonna head to the Goldie, make a bit of coin and teach the young fellas about standards.”

“And obviously I’m starting a poddy too.”

More to come.
