Serial pest Jarvo is a shock inclusion into the Wallabies squad this week after he was spectacularly turfed out of the Kangaroos match against the Poms last weekend.

In the turfing out, it's reported that Jarvo, who is a portly, middle-aged man who has made a profile out of intruding on sporting events by pretending to be one of the players, injured his shoulder. Which makes his selection by Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt all the of a gamble.

"We are betting on Jarvo to be fit for this upcoming match against Italy," Schmidt told The Advocate moments ago.

"It's a gamble, sure. But I'd wager on Jarvo passing his fitness tests later in the week. He's not a sure thing but I'd say, with a few inducements, you could say he's the favourite at the moment to be the starting tight head,"

"But as a coach, you've got to bet with your head. We're not talking about putting the house on it, but, you know, there's often no real gain if there is not real risk. That's just a part of life. But, you know, sometimes you just have to take a punt on someone and hope they rise to the occasion. I'm trying my luck here, obviously. We're talking about a very overweight bloke, who's about 40, who's never run without a security guard chasing him. I'm not even sure he'll be able to play more than five minutes at the intensity that international rugby is at. But we'll just have to wait and see, see what the shoulder scans say."

Jarvo's inclusion in the squad has the Italians sensing blood in the water with the Australians, who went down to the limp-wristed hair gel enthusiasts of the British public school system on Sunday morning our time.

Local man of Italian descent, Roger McSmith, told The Advocate that they'll exploit the scrum if Jarvo plays.

"You wouldn't bet on the Wallabies winning, would you?" he said.

"I wonder what they're paying? I might actually open up SPORTSBET and deposit my entire paycheque into it. Then put my entire paycheque on Italy to win. Then, if they don't, I can just use my credit card to chase my losses. I'm actually excited."

More to come.
