A Betoota family is falling back on a foolproof lifehack to ensure their bins go out on the right day.
As Queensland school holidays kick off, families from across the state will be hitting the road to enjoy some much needed down time.
And as such, 18 year old first year uni students will be enjoying a week unsupervised as they finally manage to wriggle out of the annual camping trip.
The Wruck family of Betoota Plains will be leaving their eldest son Mike in charge of the home for ten days, and have carefully laid out all the necessary housekeeping information before taking off.
An A4 sheet of paper blu-tacked to the fridge covers everything from pet meal schedule to wifi passwords, and luckily for Mike, bin night.
Though the general advice, it seems, is to simply put whatever the neighbours have out.
“Yellow bin goes out every second week, but if you forget, just have a look at which one the neighbours have put out,” wrote his mum Sue.
“We’ve been doing it for 25 years and have never had an issue.”
Mike says he’ll do his best to remember to put them out at all, but can’t make any promises.
“Saturday night will be a big one though. Now that I can promise,” he grinned.
