Wahu To Compete With Barbie By Making Movie About A Non Binary Toy That’s Both A Frisbee And A Ball

In some very random news this week, Australian outdoor toy company Wahu has officially jumped on board the toy movie train, announcing that they plan on releasing Phlat! in 2025, which features a confused disc grappling with its identity.

This comes after witnessing the monumental success of the Barbie movie, which at the time of writing has already surpassed $500 million box office in just one week.

Hoping to capitalise on the whole ‘stories about toys that actually have a deeper meaning about the fabric of society’, a spokesperson for Wahu says their Frisbee/ball hybrid was a no brainer, seeing as its always been one of their more progressive toys.

“I know an opportunity when I see it”, says Mick Hardwood, “I mean, aside from the absolutely phenomenal marketing and having Margot Robbie, Barbie has really blown up for being a stellar film that shines a lens on the universal experience of being a woman in a man’s world.”

“Or that’s what my daughter tells me anyway.”

“Phlat will be about a toy struggling to accept their identity in a binary world.”

“Everyone they know is either a disc or a ball.”

“But Phlat comes to the conclusion that they are both a disc AND a ball, and that’s perfectly okay!”

More to come.
