Rugby League Supremo Peter V’landys has today shown the sporting nation why he is the king of the administrators.
With the rumour mill going into overdrive about a prospective rebel rugby union competition, V’landys has moved to ward off any threats to the National Rugby League.
“Mate, they wanna fuck around, they are gonna find out,” said V’landys in an exclusive sit down with The Advocate.
“Any malakas that sign a deal with R360 will be ostracised from the NRL.”
In a throwback to ancient Greek days, V’landys is apparently brining back the tradition of Ostracism.
Ostracism (Greek: ὀστρακισμός, ostrakismos) was an Athenian democratic procedure in which any citizen could be expelled from the city-state of Athens for ten years.
“As most people are aware, the Greeks pretty much invented everything, and one of the great things they came up with was Ostracism,” said V’landys.
“So any of these fellas who wanna sign a deal with this Saudi league, well you won’t be playing in the NRL again.”
“Unless you wanna sign a retirement package at the Dragons in 10 years time.”
V’landys comments come as the NRL, Super Rugby and northern oval ball competitions prepare to get raided by a rebel R360 league.
While details are slim, a bunch of players have already signed conditional contracts with the breakaway comp that is planning to kick off in September next year.
It’s set to feature 12 teams in glamour cities around the world, and has the established league and union collective shitting themselves.
However, in trademark V’landys fashion, the NRL boss has got on the front foot and laid down the law.
“Fuck em,” he said.
More to come.
