Urghhhhh It's Shepard Avocado Season Again

22 year old Chelsea Graves may be saving $10 a week on her weekly shop, but the joy ends there. 

The French Quarter resident says she fell to her knees in the produce section of Betoota IGA last week when she found her beloved Hass avocados replaced by Shepards.  

“It comes around every year, and still I'm never prepared,” she said.

Not yet ready to give her up her morning avo on toast, Chelsea ended up buying a couple anyway. 

“They literally never got ripe, they just stayed bright green and firm all week long,”

“Eventually, my housemates said they were taking up too much space in the fruit bowl and chucked them out,”

Chelsea says she’s unsure how to proceed through the coming months considering Hass likely won’t return to the shelves until May.

“I was meant to have all my mates over for a party in a few weeks time, but I’ll probably have to cancel that seeing as though I can’t make any guac,”

A die-hard member of avocado-tok, Chelsea said the app’s community just hasn't felt like home recently. 

“I watched a bunch of videos on how to pick the right ones, or make them taste good, but still nothing,” 

Luckily, she's instead found comfort in Reddit boards full of fellow Shepard haters. 

Though considering the fuel crisis, Chelsea may be facing an unusually long Hass absence this year.
