An unknown band of alt-country rock, possibly Christian, musicians say that while the ARIAs were a pretty mad party – there isn’t much point to it if it’s only going to award prizes to mainstream artists.
The Voice Of Spirit, a seven-year-old, technically independent band that usually appear on the fourth of fifth headline in music festival posters are very unashamed of their jaded response to the night’s winners.
“Yawwn” says leader singer, Alistair Christian.
“Paul Kelly. This isn’t the eighties anymore. What about some actual real artists that don’t have the whole music industry in their back pocket”
Despite not being even nominated for an award, the band says they were even more surprised to see which of the chosen nominees actually won.
“It’s like, they chose the worst ones ever. Ever heard of Sheppard? Ever heard of Flight Facilities? – there’s plenty of good music out there that’s like huge overseas but this is just a boys club” says a furious Alistair
However, lead guitarist, Moses Joseph says aside from the obviously corrupt selection criteria for awards, the ARIAs was the greatest night of his young life.
“It was so mad!” he says.
“Endless Crownies. We were only a couple of rows back from Hilltop Hoods!”
“I met Richard Wilkins! He’s so funny in real life!”
