A fleeting moment of curiosity was quickly squashed for Mel Cooper this morning, after noticing her least funny friend liked an Instagram video she was about to commit to watching.

Speaking with The Advocate, the self-described ‘funny girl’ explains how she only has a finite amount of attention and she can’t afford to waste it on stuff that’s not funny.

“I just don’t want that stuff going into my brain” said the aspiring screenwriter.

“Watching stuff that’s not funny actually makes me angry. I don’t have the energy to deal with that.”

The Advocate understands the clip that caused Cooper’s frustrations to boil over was a hobby horse competition montage.

Traditionally Hobby Horsing was reserved for children, however the rise of social media and some bizarre simulation pressures has meant that people as old as 23 are participating.

Cooper went on to explain how conversely, she’ll go out of her way to watch a reel if she sees it’s liked by someone whose sense of humour she respects, and laugh even if she doesn’t quite get it.

More to come.
