Wait, So This Is It?” Says Disappointed Sweet Tooth Trying Matcha For The First Time

A local sweet tooth and caramel latte fan has been extremely let down with just how bland the much hyped matcha latte is.

Sarah Davies (28), who despite being proud of Australia’s strong coffee culture is partial to an iced salted caramel Frappuccino from Starbucks now and again, says the current cold drink trend of the day didn’t quite stick with her.

“I definitely thought it was going to be some sort of sweet green juice for some reason” said Sarah.

Unfortunatly, Sarah – who after 10 years of drinking, still says beer tastes “yucky” – was met with the earthy, slightly bitter flavour assault of a matcha latte.

“Wait, this is what everyones hyping up?”

“I really don’t get it”

“I kept waiting for the sugar to kick in, but it never came” Sarah explained, still holding the half-finished cup.

She compared the taste to if she scooped up some puddle water from the street and chucked in some freshly mowed grass.

Despite her disappointment, she admits it made the caffine affects didn’t give her the same anxious shakes that her frappuccinos do.

Sarah says she’ll probably go back to her regular order but will continue pretending she enjoys matcha around her healthy friends.

“I feel like it’s one of those drinks you don’t actually like, you just tolerate it for the aesthetic”
