‘Vegan Oysters’ Offered At Restaurant Just A Bowl Of Pistachios

A Betoota Grove restaurant has come under fire from the local vegan community this week, after it was discovered that the ‘vegan’ options available on the menu were not only vastly overpriced, but quite pitiful.

Despite advertising on their website that ‘V & VG options were available, The Bowen Hotel stands accused of ripping off its vegan customers with its rather… uninspiring dishes.

This comes as local woman Gemma Preston, 28, was left feeling very disappointed after selecting ‘vegan oysters’, only to find herself presented with a bowl of uncracked pistachios drizzled in a mysterious green sauce.

Gemma tells our reporter she’s long gotten used to abysmal vegan options at non speciality restaurants, but that forking out $22 for a bowl of nuts was ‘really taking the piss.’

“Look, I know if I go to a non vegan restaurant, I’m likely going to get tofu or mushroom”, explains Gemma, “Betoota isn’t exactly at the forefront of culture.”

“This is worse than the time I ordered ‘vegan grilled salmon’, which turned out to be a plate of charred watermelon.”

The chef, a portly looking bloke known only as ‘Jackson’ defended his menu.

“Jesus Christ, I don’t know what the fuck they [vegans] want, I can’t reinvent the wheel”, said Jackson.

“And they’re bloody exaggerating! It wasn’t just pistachios, I’m not that unimaginative.”

“It also came with a side of lettuce.”

More to come.
