A local pudgy guy is yearning for the societal acceptance of slightly overweight middle aged men’s bare stomachs that is the norm in China.

Trent Folley (41), a slighlty overweight Bathurst man, is envious of the lax culture around what is known as the “Beijing Bikini”.

The “Beijing Bikini” is a common sight in parts of China where middle-aged men roll up their shirts to expose their bellies in hot weather to cool off.

“I just can’t imagine the freedom they must feel…” explained Trent.

“Exposing your gut to the world and just letting the breeze cool it down…. must feel sensational”

Trent has expressed dismay at the fact that if he did that down at the local shops he would be met with nothing but judgmental stares.

Trent says the double standards are suffocating, especially when shirtless joggers and beach dads are allowed to roam free with zero judgment.

“All I want is to enjoy a cold beer with my shirt half rolled up” he said.

He believes Australia needs to “grow up” and embrace what he calls “pudgy men body positivity”

“Honestly, if Xi Jinping rolled through Bathurst with his belly out, people would probably start clapping.”

Trent says he’s now seriously considering a summer holiday to China, not for the culture, but for the true, unrestricted sense of body liberation.
