A man who moved to a major global city from his small hometown in 2014, has boldly declared that the city lost its grit and culture in 2015.
35 year old Scott Longmire moved to the bustling metropolis at age 24, he has long mourned the loss of any sort of real culture, flushed out by the unstoppable tide of gentrification from out of towners.
“You should have seen this place a decade ago….” Scott said while exhaling a ciggie over his modern apartment overlooking the once working class neighbourhood.
“Yeah it was a little rough around the edges, but it had its charm” he said solemnly.
Scott has pinpointed the date of the cultural death of his new home city to 2015, coincidently 1 year after he arrived.
“Yeah, I see these guys who moved here in 2019 and I’m just like…”
“You didn’t get to the see this place when it was crazy”
“I actually feel bad for them” Scott lamented.
While the 35 year old is still yet to see any irony in his statements, he can definitely admit he’s grateful he got to see the place at its cultural peak, before those blow-ins moved in.
“There were some seriously shady characters getting around.. but if you actually made an effort to talk to them you’d see they had some really great stories” explained Scott.
The 35 year old says he thinks it’s time to move on to a fresh city that still has culture and hasn’t been destroyed by gentrification.
