NO NO, GO FOR THE BIG STICKS: In a bold and potentially revolutionary move, Sydney Swans head coach Dean Cox, has floated the idea of incorporating goal-kicking practice into the team’s training sessions moving forward.

The genius-ploy comes after too much football in which the Swans dominated every stat except the one where it actually matters: kicking the ball between the big sticks.

“We’ve been focusing on everything else — handball chains, tackling pressure, learning how to benefit from Sydney’s booming property market,” Cox explained.

“But this whole ‘goal scoring’ thing keeps coming up in match reviews.”

Sources close to the club say goal-kicking drills were previously considered “too risky” and “outdated” with Club psychologists fearing the added mental toll placed on players who would find themselves missing even more shots at training than they do during actual games.

Still, Cox remains optimistic.

“We might start with something gentle — like aiming at the grand stand — and work our way up to actual goalposts by year’s end.”

Swans fans are believed to be excited about the coach’s out of the box thinking, with some now confident that the #swannies can make finals again as soon as 2029.

More to come.
